Are There Any Dangers With The HCG Diet?

HCG Diet DangersIf you’ve been looking for a way to lose weight you’ve might have heard of the HCG diet. I say you might have heard about it because news is starting to spread about the great results that people are having.

But are there any dangers to the HCG diet, or is it a safe way to lose weight?

I’m going to lay out the facts to you so you can actually know the answer to this question.

I know there are a lot of strong opinions out there, and there is even more bad information being spread by misinformed people and peddlers of other diets trying to convince you their diet is “better” or safer. And all of these people have zero experience with the diet and have never gone on the diet themselves.

Well I have been on the diet and I personally know countless numbers of people who have also completed it.

I’m also a medical researcher and I’ve done my homework. I have nothing for you to buy on this site and I’m writing this to help you learn the truth about the HCG diet so you can make an informed decision of your own.

So, are there any HCG diet dangers or side effects that you should be aware of?

Well, that depends on how you do the diet.

For example, you can use the old injection method which requires you to take an HCG shot every day. This is effective and numerous people have done it successfully.

But I must warn you, injections can be dangerous.

I would never recommend the injection method to anyone unless they are seeing a doctor every couple of days and you have a proper prescription to get the injections of HCG. This is because injections are serious business and bring complications with them.

Of course you can get your HCG injections online from overseas vendors but you don’t know what you’re getting and it is probably illegal. Also the injections can cause blood clots and other side effects that are serious.

So the injections work but make sure you are supervised by a medical professional, and be aware of the downsides like increased cost and some risks. And these downside are why the injections are not my preferred way of doing the HCG diet.

But the second way of doing the HCG diet is my preferred way of doing it.

And that preferred method is to use a new oral hormone-free HCG diet product known as HCG Diet Accelerator. This method has you take an HCG Diet Accelerator product while on the diet plan. All you do is take an oral capsule by mouth several times a day.

It’s been shown to be just as effective as the injections during the plan but there are more benefits to doing it the oral way.

For example, it’s a lot cheaper to use the oral capsules and this is primarily because you don’t need a prescription to get it and there are no expensive drug companies to mark up the price and that makes it easier to get.

Also with an oral product you don’t need some big dose of HCG for the diet to be effective. You can take the HCG Diet Accelerator version but still get the best results, which makes it safer and a more natural approach.

The other benefit is that it’s more convenient. Swallowing a few capsules by mouth is a lot simpler than mixing your HCG, preparing the syringe, and then injecting it. And since it’s easier it’s almost impossible to mess up making it fool-proof.

Also most people do it from home on their own and don’t need any doctor’s assistance.

The only thing you have to be careful about is where you get your oral HCG diet product from. There are a lot of scams out there selling worthless stuff so make sure you go with a good company that has a great product that is also made in a FDA certified lab. Also make sure they have great support because you will have questions.

And so I don’t have to answer 100′s of emails about where I get mine I’ll just recommend it here, I get all my HCG Diet Accelerator from this company: Pure HCG Diet

Just my opinion but I think their product is the best and their support forum that you get for free when you order with them is awesome because it answers all your questions and you can talk with everyone else on the diet. I’ve never had a problem with them and if you were my sister or brother that’s exactly who I would tell you to go with.

Of course you can use whoever you’d like just be careful about the scams out there.

So that’s pretty much all you need to know. The injections work but the oral HCG Diet Accelerator capsules are a lot safer, cheaper and easier to use in my opinion.

Just make sure to get it in the right place.

And of course always check with your doctor before beginning any new weight loss program.

But it’s been proven to be safe and effective and if you are looking to lose weight this is probably the best thing out there as far as safety, cost and effectiveness.

It’s changed my life and so many others. I hope it changes your life too.

I am so happy that I found this website. You are very informative. I just started taking the drops 3 days ago and I lost 3 lbs. I didn’t think it would really happen like people were saying because I have hypothyoid. I’m so happy. :) Thanks Again

Thyroid isn’t a big deal. I know some people will tell you you won’t be able to lose with thyroid issues. Not true. I get this question daily. You’ll do fine if you have thyroid issues.

I’m getting ready to start the diet – any pointers for me – I have the thyroid issue too and see that it’s no big deal … do I really need to get a dr to sign off on this.

I am thinking about trying HCG also but was recently told by RPH that sometimes it is recommended to come off ones Synthroid prior . Are you on Synthroid still /ever

I have been doing the diet for 11 days now and I am down 10 lbs. This is the ONLY diet that has ever worked for me! I am loving it, and I am loving that I am FINALLY not craving, wanting, or even desiring carbs, fast food, soda, candy or sweets. I also have so much more energy! My only concern right now is when I finish the HCG drops will I go back to craving the carbs, fast food, soda..etc or will the drops rewire my brain so that I don’t crave those foods again? Right now its easy to turn all that stuff down and stick to the diet because I’m not hungry for it and I don’t want to cheat.

Reply

Susan

You are doing fantastic Amanda so keep going until you hit your goal. And yes, it’s amazing how the cravings subside. If you are doing good now with cravings you will be just fine after the diet. Remember that you feel great and don’t need those other foods. You are doing great so keep going strong and let us know how your round ends up!

I need knee replacement, and I’m scared, but I have to loss over a 100 lbs. I was just told about it to day, and I need to lose the weight before the knee replacement. So do you know of anyone that has been in this Situation. The question is would there be any side affects with the surgery from the use of HCG. I need help. The only thing that I’m being told that would help me is a Gastrobypass.

Reply

Susan

Do the diet and lose the weight then. You can do it. I’ve seen people lose over 150+. You aren’t alone. Just get help from a good provider. And anyone who says gastric bypass is the only option must be the one being paid to do the surgery. I’ve seen people do gastric, then gain it back and then go to the HCG diet. You need to learn about how to eat correctly to keep the weight off. Get on the plan, you will lose so quickly, then you can get your knee fixed. Just get help. There’s hope!

Hey Susan,
Thanks for all the the information ont the HCG diet. I have been contemplating starting it for awhile now. My 22 year old daughter has lost over 50 lbs. now on the HCG diet, and has only one more short round to go to achieve her goal weight. I’ve noticed that the change in eating habits were a minimum struggle for her and it has been so nice, literally watching the weight come off of her day by day. She is back to her old self again, confident, energetic and always smiling. I want those things back for me too as well. I am at 196 lbs. right now and am aiming for a goal weight of 150 lbs. I am starting my HCG diet on Tuesday, 5-23-2011. I will post updates here regularly . Again, thank you,and wish me luck!!! :)

Hi Tammy,

I encourage you as well. I am 43 and just had my second child at 41. At my top weight I was 207 lbs. I am now down to 145 and can’t believe how amazing I feel. I haven’t been this size since my college years, but my body was designed to be this size. Now the dicipline of what I put in it is up to me. All I can say about all the negative talk out there is that there is NO WAY on God’s green earth that these little drops are doing more damange to me than the sugar industry and fat I’ve been carrying around. It it such a gift to reclaim yourself and this diet teaches you how to eat clean and that is what we all need to learn.

I have a syndrome called PCOS. If I take HCG, will I get the same results. I don’t wanna gain the weight back.
And do you know of any clients that have gained their weight back?

Reply

Susan

There are many people who have PCOS and do the HCG diet just fine. It’s actually really common and I know a few people personally. You should always check with your doctor. Also make sure to go with a good provider.

And yes, some people have gained the weight back but that has nothing to do with the HCG diet and only to do with the participant. If you lose the weight with anything, the HCG diet, exercise, south beach diet, surgery, or any other weight loss method, and you still go back to your old ways, you can still gain it back. It has nothing to do with HOW you lost it, but how you acted AFTER the diet. But you will keep it off if you follow the directions and use your head.

And one nice thing about the HCG diet that I’ve noticed is that people tend to keep it off a lot more than other methods because of how the diet changes you and TEACHES you how to take care of yourself. So I would recommend it over anything else!

Hi I have a friend that has done a wonderful job losing weight using HCG. However, she was much bigger than I am. I only need to use about 10 lbs no more than 15. Will I need to use this method for a while? Is it safe to use being that I only need to lose a “little” weight.

Reply

Susan

Yes, you can do a shorter round. You could probably lose that in about 2-3 weeks. I’ve seen it lost in a single week but they had more to lose of course. But a 26 day round should be more than enough and you can stop if you hit your goal early and just go to maintenance.

Reply

I have been on the HCG diet for 7 days and have lost 11 lbs. my goal is only 15 pounds so I am very pleased with the results. I feel like I should keep on the drops for the full 21 day cycle though to help with bad fat burn off and reduce cravings. Is this a good idea?

Jennifer

Jacque, I personally have PCOS, and I just went through one cycle of the hCG drops and diet. I lost 40 lbs and have kept it off for five weeks now. I will be starting the second cycle in another week. Prior to starting this program, I dieted and exercised (quite vigorously), but my weight did not change for two years. It didn’t matter if I ate every kind of junk or if I dieted. Once I started the hCG, I lost 10 pounds in two days. I couldn’t believe it, and it has been an answer to prayer for me!!

Hello, I’m curious did you do that oral under the tongue or the injections? I also work out and eat pretty healthy but that’s after taking 10 months off from the gym!! I was originally 287lbs and I got down to 226lbs in 5 months and i mean i was literally at the gym 2-3 hours 4 to 5 days a week and I definately was burning more than I was taking in anyhow after injuring my shoulder really bad i could no longer go back to the gym until recently and now I’m back up to 270lbs so although I didn’t gain it all back most of it is back so I’m doing my best to inform myself about the hcg diet, also where did you buy it at? Thanks for all your help in advance

Reply

Susan

Hi DeAngelo. I did the oral under the tongue and I got it from the site I have listed in the article. There should be a link that you can click on to get more info. And you are in a situation that is very common and that is you have an injury where you are limited in your working out and so you have turned to this diet. It’s common because if done correctly this diet works extremely well and you don’t have to work out at all. Just walking and that’s it.

Reply

josephine

I just wanted to say thank you for your site and information. It helped me get started and I worked with the exact company you did. I finished my first round about a week ago and I lost 34 pounds. I was VERY skeptical at first but I just did what they said and trusted the process. NOTHING has ever worked for me so I’m so glad I didn’t give up before trying this. So you are an inspiration and my whole life is turning around thanks to losing those 34 pounds. I have more to go but I KNOW I can do it now because I’ve seen the amazing results. Thank you so much!

Reply

Susan

Wow! Thanks for coming back and telling me this. I’m still surprised how many people’s lives this diet has helped, it makes it all worth it to help spread the word. You keep going and get to your goal. And make sure to come back and post when you’re done with your next round!

Reply

Adrienne

I heard that if you work out you’re not supposed to do the HCG diet. Is that correct?

Thanks!

Reply

Susan

Well that really depends on what you mean by “work out”. To lose weight you definitely don’t need to exercise while on this diet. It’s that effective. And if you work out a lot during the diet you will be burning more calories than you are eating and you’ll be very hungry. So it’s best to avoid a lot of exercise during the diet. But if you have to for work you can can in more calories to the original diet and be just fine. I know several exercise instructors who did the diet and did quite well. If you need more help let me know.

Reply

Fanny

Hey Susan I read your article and really wants to try it.it’s just a bit confuse me about the exercise thing.cos I work out a lot, literally 6 to 7 days a week.is it okay?I can’t stop working out,cos tha’s like my ‘me’ time…pls let me know what’s best for me,I only need to loose like 8-9 pounds.thank you

Reply

Susan

You can workout but you must go easy or make changes to the diet. You’ll lose 8-9 pounds probably in less than 2 weeks, so do consider just cutting back. Talk with who you are working with though and see what changes or recommendations they have.

Reply

Teri

I am like Fanny. I work out 6 days a week at an extreme bodyshaping gym. I am frustrated because I am on week 7 and I’ve lost no weight. I know muscle ways more than fat…but I have a total of 25 lbs I need to lose, to get back to my comfy weight. I really want to try this diet, but I don’t want to stop the gym. So when you say make changes to the diet, can you give an example calorie-wise?? I mean if I’m suppose to be eating 1200 calories a day, what would be the recommendation once I start the HCG Drops?

deborah

I have had breast cancer, is this drug safe for me to take?

Reply

Susan

Hi Deborah,

If you use the product that I suggest in the article then yes, it does not cause cancer or anything like that. Even the injections are probably fine but I would stick to the oral product that I recommend because the injections do cause some side effects. But the oral product that I recommend is so safe you don’t need a prescription to use it.

Reply

Ally

Hey, I have had a blood clot before. If I did the oral drops would I be prone to getting a blood clot again. I think it was from smoking and birth control.
Thanks

Reply

Susan

No, as long as you use the product I recommend there is no extra danger of blood clots. You should avoid injections though because of your history. Good news is that you don’t need injections to do the diet though. So just use a good oral product and you’ll be fine.

Is HCG safe to take with prescription antidepressants? I take Wellbutrin and Prozac. Thanks

Reply

Susan

Well I know many people on the diet and they do well. But again, it will depend on the product you use. If you use the product I used and recommend you shouldn’t see problems. You should always check with your doctor though. But I know personally lost of people on those medication and they have done great and haven’t seen any ill effects or negative reactions. Hope that helps.

Julie,
I am on Pristiq and just finished the 6 week diet with no side effects; just feeling tired at times. I recently had my check-up with my primary care physician and he suggested eating beef liver to build up my iron again. I know liver isn’t on the menu for the diet, but I think it should be added so you don’t become anemic. Also, I added lemon to the green tea. Green tea has caffeine, and I learned that it should be drunk in moderation, as it could deydrate you. Drink more water than green tea. Best of luck on your journey to weight loss!

I am in my 2nd session of HCG drops. I think they are great and my appetite is pretty much gone. I am down only 14 lbs, but happy that it is going down. I have about another 25 to go….My problem is lately I am getting light headed and dizzy alot. I am on blood pressure meds and I think my blood pressure drops during the day. Is it safe to keep on HCG? What can I do to stop these feelings?

Reply

Susan

Hi Debbie. It sounds like you have low blood sugar. You can fix that by using 2 teaspoons in water and drinking that. It will boost it up. Also if you are working out or exercising too much that can cause those feelings. Contact who you are working with and they can help make the necessary changes.

Reply

Donna

Hi. I thought I would chime in here. If you are medication for hypertension and have lost even 10% of your body weight you may have lowered your blood pressure enough to cause the symptoms you describe. You should have your pressure checked and may need the medication adjusted.

Melanie

Debbie, it sounds like you need to have your blood pressure meds adjusted. If you are loosing weight and still taking the same dose of meds, the dosage may be too high for you now. I would make and appointment and see your doctor.

Hi Susan

Thanks for insight into the HCG diet – I’m about to start for the first time the oral drops but does it really bring back the period of post menopausal women? I am curious as I fall in this category. Awaiting your reply.

Is there a danger in continuing to use the drops after the 40-day intensive weight-loss period ? I find the drops suppress my appetite and help to regulate my blood sugar . I would like to continue, and eat a modified version of the diet (low-fat, low carb, low calorie). Still need to lose another 10 lbs. to achieve my goal.
Thanks,
Hanna

Reply

Susan

Don’t go past the 40 days. Your body will get used to the HCG and it won’t be effective. You must stop the drops and move to maintenance. Also the HCG makes you sensitive and if you aren’t doing the low calorie diet you may actually gain from it. I know of another option for the appetite that you can use. Let me know if you want that.

It usually comes off the legs and arms first. The belly typically comes next. But you can lose whatever you need to as long as you stick with it.

I noticed an inch off my thighs and four inches off my waist.
My forearms have less fat, but I didn’t see any change in my

I added nonfat lactose free milk before the diet was over as I
was concerned about my vitamin D. Can you explain the 40 day
diet as I had not heard about that. Also, can you tell me if liver is
ok to take on the diet for iron?
Thanks,
Annette

Reply

Susan

Hi Annette. Don’t go past 40 days in a row. You need to do the maintenance phase between rounds. So go 40 days, do maintenance, then start another round. That will keep you from stalling and you won’t have to worry about adding extra things on the diet. So start maintenance phase right now.

My friend told me to look into this as he just made an order and is going to give it a shot because he has heard great things about this diet. I am little wary because I have a pituitary tumor and I am on 2 medications that control my prolactin hormone and my thyriod. The protaclin medication is Caberogoline and I am on Levoxyl for my low Thyroid. By chance do you know if this hormone supplemental will affect my medications in a negative way?

I would really like to lose the weight that I have put on because of my tumor and medications. I have at least 50 pounds to lose.

Reply

Susan

As long as you are off the diet when you start trying then you are fine. It won’t affect your future pregnancy’s. At least not the product I recommend. I can’t say the same for anything else. In fact losing weight will increase your chances of getting pregnant so I’m glad you are thinking about losing weight. And antibiotics shouldn’t be a problem at all.

I am focued on losing 30 more pounds as I have already lost about 50 in the past year. However, I need more help. I cant spend the $550.00 that the clinic that I found online has quoted me. I appreciate all of your questions and answers. It has really helped.

Reply

Make sure your doc is a weight loss specialist. Most general practitioners will give bad/inaccurate advice on this subject because they don’t know better. And you don’t need a doctor to go on the drops if you get the right kind. And you certainly don’t need to spend $550! You can do it for a lot less and get even better support. Visit the site I used and you’ll do great.

Reply

Susan

If you want to ask a doctor then ask a weight loss specialist. General practitioners and GYN are typically behind the times and will give bad advice on this subject. I would also recommend the drops over the injections with your situation. I’ve seen a lot of people with fairly serious medical condition do great. And there medical conditions seem to disappear after losing the weight.

Hi All,

I’m waiting on my HCG drops to arrive and I am hoping to start the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

I have hypothyroid (since I was 22, I am now 38). No matter how much exercising, watching my diet, etc I cannot seem to drop a pound. My sister (who is NOT hypo) lost 15 pounds on the 23 day round of drops so I am going to give it a try. I’m a little nervous though as my thyroid is so sensitive. Have you ever heard of this diet backfiring on a hypo patient? Also, while I am waiting on my book from Amazon, can you continue on supplements (I know to cut out the oils) but I take Vitamin B and lots of other herbs….

I appreciate any feedback you might have.

Thanks!

You should be fine. Avoid the oils as you said but also consider pausing any supplements. Typically only continue something prescribed by a doctor.

How do I know that this site you recomend is the FDA drops?I’m not so much trying to prevent pregnancy but I wouldnt mind losing the lbs before conception. I also went in to kidney failure 3 years ago but made a recovery, just dont want to hurt myself. Any feedback?

Reply

The drops I recommend and use are made in an FDA approved lab so you know they are safe. You can always contact them and ask whatever questions you have. And as long as you are healthy enough to go on a low calorie diet then you should be OK.

Reply

Melissa

Great site full of info, thanks! Question about supplements: I read above that you advise not taking any supplements other than what your doctor prescribes. I take a daily vitamin and probiotics that are both OTC; should I halt consumption of these, as well?

Reply

Susan

If you don’t need them for immediate health issues, and they aren’t doctor prescribed, then it’s best to pause them until after the diet so they don’t interfere.

My husband and I are trying to have a baby, but we both need to lose some weight (I need to lose 10 lbs, he needs to lose 40 lbs). If I start this and find out I’m pregnant (obviously I would quit taking it right away), will it affect the baby in those 2 wks of my cycle, from ovulation/ conception until I find out? I think we both want to try it, but I want to make sure if I get pregnant while taking it that there would be no harmful effects on a baby (birth defects, miscarriage, etc) Please let me know your thoughts . . .

Thanks!
Crystal

You shouldn’t be trying to get pregnant while on the diet. Not because the drops aren’t safe, but because you are on a very low calorie diet. Studies have shown that if you lose a good amount of weight you are more likely to get pregnant. So I would suggest losing the weight first, then trying to get pregnant. It won’t effect you or your baby negatively at all and you have a better chance of getting pregnant the more healthy you are.

Hi Susan,

If I have done the HCG diet multiple times, do I still have to do the Maintenance Phase?

Thanks. Patty

Reply

Susan

Yes, you should always do the maintenance phase. It sets your new weight point so you’re more unlikely to have it come back.

hey. i have been on birth control for over a year now. I am hoping to start the hcg diet soon. Will it have any effect on the birth control?

Reply

Susan

No, the drops I recommend do not effect birth control and you can use it just fine. I can’t say the same about any other product though. But I was on birth control during my rounds on this product and I did well.

I am starting the hcg drops the saturday after Thanksgiving. The place I am going has me taking suppliments B and D along with protein shakes. They say you can lose 30 pounds in 30 days, what do you think?

Reply

Susan

Protein shakes? Vitamin B and D are fine (though I don’t think they help any and are a waste of money) but protein shakes will probably slow you down. It seems this company might be trying to sell you a bunch of extra stuff that you don’t need. You just need a good HCG product and support/instructions to get through the diet.

I had my gallbladder removed this past year. I was wondering if this will work for me? considering the whole fat issue. would it be effective and safe for me?

Reply

Susan

It will still be very effective. The HCG is to get rid of the fat storage and to help alleviate hunger, but the diet does the work. So combine them together and you’ll see good results. If you are worried about your gallbladder then talk to your doc.

Hi There,

Is it safe to use this drops while i’m breast feeding my 22 months old baby?

thanks!

Reply

Susan

The drops are fine but you are on a low calorie diet which isn’t good for breast feeding because you don’t have enough calories to share. So do not be on the diet while pregnant or nursing. Just wait until you are done nursing.

Hi, do I have to take a physican exams before use this hcg drops?
thank you!!!:)

Susan

That’s up to you. 99% of people don’t and do just fine. If you use the site I used they have the best support so you can ask any question you have and can do it at home.

Hi there,
I would like to lose about 12 lbs and have had several co-workers using the hcg drops. I have seen the results on them myself. Pretty amazing so I am excited to start. However, I am prone to ovarian cysts and am told that the hcg may give make them develop. Have you heard anything about this? Seems that from the amount I want to lose, it shouldn’t take no time at all.

Reply

Susan

12 pounds should come off quickly if you are doing it correctly. Ovarian cysts are not known to come from the drops or even the injections for weight loss. Only complications tend to come from extremely high doses of HCG for pregnancy issues. But even that is debatable. The drops are very safe. But if concerned you can always check with your doctor.

I just saw my doctor for a f/u on surgery, I mentioned I needed to lose the weight I gained from quiting smoking before the surgery (4/5/10) I have noticed all questions are from women. Is this for men?

Reply

Susan

Most questions are from women because more women are interested in losing weight. But men or women can do this diet. In fact men tend to do much better, but both men and women do great.

I have very bad asthma, have had it my whole life. Im sure this drug is safe for asthmatics, the thing is Im trying to loose a LOT of weight. Like say 250lbs. Yeah, that much. I weigh alot more then that. Just wondering how effective this diet is for people who realy cant do alot due to sever breathing problums who need to loose a LOT of weight?

Any insight would be appreciated. Thank you much.

Reply

Susan

The good thing about this diet is that you don’t need to exercise. In fact a lot of people start this diet because they can’t exercise for whatever reason. So you will still lose weight, a lot of weight, even though you aren’t active. Just make sure to follow it 100% for best results.

Harv,
I have severe asthma, or at least I did before I used homeopathic hCG and lost over 100 pounds. I have used my rescue inhaler, maybe three times in the last year and a half, am off inhaled steroids and I take a Singulair daily that is it. In 2009 I was on prednisone nearly half the year. Plus I had obstructive sleep apnea and had to sleep with a C-PAP, no more and no acid reflux.

Susan

Great job Helen. Just goes to show how healthy you can be once you start to lose the weight. Thanks for sharing!

My thyroid gland function tests are all normal however I have a bit of a goiter and am wondering how the hcg homeopathic effects the thyroid gland; can it increase frequency or intensity of heart palpitations?

Reply

Susan

There are no negative effects and absolutely doesn’t effect your heart at all. This is a naturally occurring substance already in your body. It doesn’t do anything crazy like some of those “other” things out there.

I have heard if taking a break after 23 and also 40 days. Which should one do? Is one way better than the other?

Reply

Susan

You need to be doing maintenance after each round, and even an extra 3 week break after the 40 days and after maintenance. So make sure to do that before starting another round.

I have epilepsy and I take Carbatrol (Carbamazapene). I’m researching to see if taking hcg will have a bad reaction with Carbatrol or cause seizures or make them worse. Have you heard anything about it?

Thanks-
Briana

Reply

Susan

I haven’t. If you have seizures I would check with your doctor and ask about a low calorie diet. I’m sure the drops are fine but make sure you can go on a low calorie diet.

I take a blood thinner along with Atenolol, Allopurinol and other meds for heart issues. I also take fish oil. Can you use HCG drops with the blood thinner and should you stop the fish oil? My daughter is on the shots and has done very well but it costs a fortune. Thanks for any info. you can give me
Maxcine

Reply

Susan

Yeah, injections work but they are expensive and a pain (literally). The product I used get’s the same results without the cost or hassle. You should continue taking your blood thinner as long as it’s doctor prescribed. But the fish oil can be paused during the diet, and then restarted after the diet. The oil can cause you to stall.

Deborah

I am coming to end of the 40 days and am very pleased with the results. I understand that I need to stay on 500 calories a day for 3 days but am unsure of what I need to do for maintenance. Please explain and thank you.

Reply

Susan

Good job! And maintenance you avoid sugars and starches. So read those labels and know what a starch is, then avoid them.

I know of several people who are doing the HCG Diet and are having great success on it. You can imagine that I’m really anxious to want to get started on it and finally start dropping my baby weight from my last two pregnancies. However, I have the Mirena as my birth control and wanted to know if I started the diet would it affect my birth control in any way? My husband and I do not want to have anymore children and as long as the HCG Diet will have no affect on the Mirena…I’m ready to go!! =)

Thanks!!

Reply

Susan

I’m not sure about the injections but the oral product I took did not interfere with birth control. I was on birth control for both my rounds and I did great. Just make sure to take your birth control correctly and I’m sure you’ll be fine. You can always ask who you are ordering from more about it to make sure.

I have done the diet twice, 50lbs lighter, and have only experienced 2 side effects- dizziness and leg cramps. To stop the leg cramps i take a potassium supplement and for the dizziness i just try not to stand up too fast- (very similar to getting out of bed too fast)- can you talk about other side effects people have experienced, just so people can be aware?

Reply

Susan

Yup, those are the two most common side effects and they aren’t a big deal. For dizziness also make sure you are drinking all your water and not overdoing it with physical activity. The other big one is headaches but that can be solved with any over-the-counter headache medication. I’ll do another post on the others soon.

I too have lost over 50 lbs and have experienced leg cramps, specifically in my shins. Nice to hear that it is a common side effect and relieved to hear that potassuim supplements will help with this. I am at my goal weight now having gone from a size 16 to an 8. I still crave sweets and carbs but can control my indulgences and quanities like never before! This diet has given me back my “youth” (I am 56) and enjoyment of life!

Reply

Susan

So happy to hear that Susan! Yes, there is a fix for just about every little annoyance on the diet. So glad you are to your goal weight and keeping it off.

I would really love to start this diet, but I have IBS. What do you recommend??

Maggie

Reply

Susan

Well look at the food on the HCG diet and see if you can have that food. I would think you would be just fine as it’s normal, healthy food. No dairy or spicy food, I don’t know what causes you problems specifically but I wouldn’t imagine you’d have any problems as the food is pretty common.

Amy

After your first round, then the maintenance, when you are ready to do another round do you do the exact same way as round one?

Reply

Susan

Yes, exactly the same with the same 2 loading days at the start.

Hi, I will be started tomorrow on the HCG diet, My question is,” how long should I take the drops, I need to lose 40 lbs ?

Reply

Susan

Start with a 40 day round and see how far you get. You could lose most of it and then lose a couple more on maintenance and then be done. If you haven’t lost it all by then, then another short round will probably get you to 40 pounds no problem, just don’t go more than 40 days on a round without doing maintenance.

Hi,
I have done a lot of research on this drug. It seems safe, but I read on 2 different sites that it could cause ovarian hyperstimulation sydrome. It seemed as though they were talking about the injections though. Do the drops have any danger in causing that syndrome? I have about 50-60lbs to lose, would a 40 day regimen get that weight off? Or would I have to do more than 1?
Thanks so much,
Kr!stine

Reply

Susan

That is only an injection thing and usually only for the fertility area. The HCG you take on the diet is so minimal that the big side effects like that aren’t really prevalent. And the oral drops are even safer because you are taking smaller doses of HCG, and that’s why I like it. And for 50-60 pounds you will probably need a 40 day round, then another 26 or 40 day round. Depends on how fast you lose as everyone is different. Just do your first 40 days and then take it from there. It all comes off eventually if you stick with it. Good luck!

Just finished the second round and reached my goal of losing 65lbs in 15 weeks. It’s easy and effective if you do it right. DON’T CHEAT!! You lose valuable time! The nice thing is that you learn very specifically what your eating habits are and it makes it very simple to change them for afterwards. Just remember to know the difference between craving foods and being hungry. If doing the diet properly you should not be hungry.

Reply

Susan

So true! Thanks for leaving this comment as it’s important to not cheat. And congratulations on your 65 pounds!

What is your opinion regarding HCG drops under your tongue?

A company called SimplePure Nutrition has made it available.

Reply

Susan

Well I don’t know what they put in them. Drops are kind of like the older way to do the diet. But they can work. But is that company a “free trial” type of place. I think it could be. If so then RUN in the other direction. Avoid those “Free” trials because they are never free and you’ll have a huge headache on your hands. I get people contacting me daily trying to figure out how to cancel it because they keep getting charged. The best thing to do is avoid them altogether and use a good provider.
