Are There Any Dangers With The HCG Diet?

HCG Diet DangersIf you’ve been looking for a way to lose weight you’ve might have heard of the HCG diet. I say you might have heard about it because news is starting to spread about the great results that people are having.

But are there any dangers to the HCG diet, or is it a safe way to lose weight?

I’m going to lay out the facts to you so you can actually know the answer to this question.

I know there are a lot of strong opinions out there, and there is even more bad information being spread by misinformed people and peddlers of other diets trying to convince you their diet is “better” or safer. And all of these people have zero experience with the diet and have never gone on the diet themselves.

Well I have been on the diet and I personally know countless numbers of people who have also completed it.

I’m also a medical researcher and I’ve done my homework. I have nothing for you to buy on this site and I’m writing this to help you learn the truth about the HCG diet so you can make an informed decision of your own.

So, are there any HCG diet dangers or side effects that you should be aware of?

Well, that depends on how you do the diet.

For example, you can use the old injection method which requires you to take an HCG shot every day. This is effective and numerous people have done it successfully.

But I must warn you, injections can be dangerous.

I would never recommend the injection method to anyone unless they are seeing a doctor every couple of days and you have a proper prescription to get the injections of HCG. This is because injections are serious business and bring complications with them.

Of course you can get your HCG injections online from overseas vendors but you don’t know what you’re getting and it is probably illegal. Also the injections can cause blood clots and other side effects that are serious.

So the injections work but make sure you are supervised by a medical professional, and be aware of the downsides like increased cost and some risks. And these downside are why the injections are not my preferred way of doing the HCG diet.

But the second way of doing the HCG diet is my preferred way of doing it.

And that preferred method is to use a new oral hormone-free HCG diet product known as HCG Diet Accelerator. This method has you take an HCG Diet Accelerator product while on the diet plan. All you do is take an oral capsule by mouth several times a day.

It’s been shown to be just as effective as the injections during the plan but there are more benefits to doing it the oral way.

For example, it’s a lot cheaper to use the oral capsules and this is primarily because you don’t need a prescription to get it and there are no expensive drug companies to mark up the price and that makes it easier to get.

Also with an oral product you don’t need some big dose of HCG for the diet to be effective. You can take the HCG Diet Accelerator version but still get the best results, which makes it safer and a more natural approach.

The other benefit is that it’s more convenient. Swallowing a few capsules by mouth is a lot simpler than mixing your HCG, preparing the syringe, and then injecting it. And since it’s easier it’s almost impossible to mess up making it fool-proof.

Also most people do it from home on their own and don’t need any doctor’s assistance.

The only thing you have to be careful about is where you get your oral HCG diet product from. There are a lot of scams out there selling worthless stuff so make sure you go with a good company that has a great product that is also made in a FDA certified lab. Also make sure they have great support because you will have questions.

And so I don’t have to answer 100′s of emails about where I get mine I’ll just recommend it here, I get all my HCG Diet Accelerator from this company: Pure HCG Diet

Just my opinion but I think their product is the best and their support forum that you get for free when you order with them is awesome because it answers all your questions and you can talk with everyone else on the diet. I’ve never had a problem with them and if you were my sister or brother that’s exactly who I would tell you to go with.

Of course you can use whoever you’d like just be careful about the scams out there.

So that’s pretty much all you need to know. The injections work but the oral HCG Diet Accelerator capsules are a lot safer, cheaper and easier to use in my opinion.

Just make sure to get it in the right place.

And of course always check with your doctor before beginning any new weight loss program.

But it’s been proven to be safe and effective and if you are looking to lose weight this is probably the best thing out there as far as safety, cost and effectiveness.

It’s changed my life and so many others. I hope it changes your life too.

I noticed that you mention Pure HCG Diet on more than one occasion.
How do you know this company?
Also I have Fibroids and doctors want to do a hysterectomy. Is it possible that HCG can help and shrink the fibroids or make them worse?
I really don’t want a hysterectomy, but more than that I want to loose 110 pounds.

This is who I first did the diet with and after working with a few other companies I realized they are the best and I get the best results from them. Their support alone is the best I’ve seen. They are always there when I need help. But that’s just my opinion of course ; ) And the fibroids you’d have to talk with your doctor. I don’t think it would effect it either way but still check. And you can lose 110 pounds on this diet. I’ve seen bigger numbers than that so you can do it too.

I have been doing this diet now for 30 days and have lost 19 pounds and am feeling great. I intend to keep losing until I reach 145 pounds. I was 199 before I started and am now at 185. I have no cravings and did take a few small bites of my Thanksgiving diner and that caused a plataue for about 3 days but them I started losing again. I am very happy with what I am doing and intend to keep it up until 145.

I am on my second round of HCG drops. I did lose 17 lbs. on the first round. The best thing that came out of this diet for me was that it has totally curbed my sweet tooth when I’m off it. I can now drink black coffee with no sugar or sweetner. Anything else I eat that contains sugar tastes so extra sweet that I can’t stand it! Now that’s amazing!

Reply

Susan

That is a benefit of the diet and HCG. Your taste buds get an overhaul and food tastes so much better and overly sweet things are easily avoided. Thanks for sharing!

Is this diet safe for type 2 diabetics, I have been told that if I lost weight I could possibly stop my medications for good.. Thank you for any input.

Reply

You should always ask your doctor first if you have diabetes but I know plenty of diabetics on the diet and they do extremely well. And you are right, if you lose the weight you will be able to take less insulin and maybe even get off medication. But again ask your doc. You’ll be surprised on how much your health improves by losing weight. Best of luck!

I started the HCG drops on Thanksgiving day and I have lost 28 pds as of the today. I have 62 more pds to lose. I know with this diet I will do it. The drops are so easy to take. I am one who never stays on a diet because it takes forever to work, but with this one it works from the start. In this little time I have went down one pants size. GOOD LUCK to everyone on this diet.

Good job Ruth! You are proof that it works and works quickly and safely. Keep going till you reach your goal!

I started today, I was told to only do it for 3 weeks, and is it ok to use regular shampoo conditioner and soaps, and will it still work if I eat bad but stay in the calorie range??

Reply

Susan

You can do it for a total of 40 days in a row. Then you must do 3 weeks of maintenance and then another 3 week break if you did a 40 day round. You only have to do maintenance if you did a 26 day round though. And regular shampoo and conditioner typically don’t cause problems unless you let it sit on your scalp. And just use dove or ivory soap and you’ll be fine. And no, you cannot eat “bad” but stay in the calorie range. You DO NOT count calories on this diet. You follow a specific meal plan and weigh your food. Make sure to get your HCG from someone who has guides and coaching so you know what to do.

Can you explain this more? I am thinking about doing 60 Day (8oz) HCG Program.

Reply

Susan

You should never go more than 40 days in a row on HCG before doing maintenance. Your body will become used to the HCG and it will become ineffective. So make sure you are working with a place that gives you good coaching and help.

I’m just now hearing about the HCG even though it sounds like it’s been around for a long time. Iam skeptical but willing to try it. My problem is that in all the websites that indorse this product they always stress that you don’t need to exercise. Don’t you think we should be encouraging folks to get out there and move around and get the heart healthy? I’m curious as to how many of these folks that have lost weight with HCG also included exercise with it and if they think it made the weight come off a little quicker. Like I said, I will definately try this but I just feel like we should also be encouraging a daily routine of cardio, etc. if health permits. I will make sure to check back in to let you know how it’s going. Thank you Susan for a very informative website – the best so far!

Reply

Susan

Well the truth is you will actually lose better if you don’t exercise during your low calorie diet on the HCG. You should walk or lightly job about 1-2 miles per day but that’s about it. Anymore and you’ll be burning too many calories and you will be too hungry. So it’s best to take a break from rigorous workouts. But as soon as you hit maintenance you should absolutely be working out. You need to replace those old fat stores with some muscle and that will make it pretty much impossible for the fat to come back. So just hold off until maintenance to exercise. Good luck and thanks for your kind words!

Reply

Andi

I have heard much good feedback from HCG clients but I was told recently that by taking the injections ONLY your fat cells are attacked vs. taking the liquid form both muscle and fat are affected and the muscle may be replaced by fat. I would just like to know what you have heard about this topic. Thanks.

Reply

Susan

That’s untrue and I’m sure you read that on a site selling injections. They tell lies about other products to try and get you to buy theirs. The truth is both the injections and a good oral HCG product will work if you simply follow the directions. You just need to decide which product is right for you as far as convenience and price.

What about getting massages while on the HCG Diet? In Dr. Simeon’s original manuscript he advises against massage, but given the paper was written in the 1950′s, I’m thinking that the positive research on massage wasn’t being done yet.
What is your advice?

Reply

Susan

Massages aren’t the problem but the oils and lotions they use during the massage are. You will absorb it into you body and it will cause problems. The diet is only for a few short weeks, so just pause your massage until you hit the maintenance phase.

Hi,
My wife and I both did this diet in September and October. The results were unbelieveable for me! I weighed about 300 pounds 2 years ago. When I started the diet I weighed 280. After 6 weeks I was down to 239.75. I lost over 40 pounds! My wife who is almost half my size lost a total of about 25 pounds. We went off this with the knowledge that we wanted to have a great holiday season. We ate, we ate, we went to Vegas and ate many, many buffets! Now about 2 months later I have gained 10 pounds back. (250) I started the 2nd round yesterday morning. This morning when I weighed myself I was down 5.25 pounds. Last time I lost 20 pounds the first week. I went from a size 48 waist to a size 40. I now weigh the same as what I did when I was 23 years old! (I am now 51) My goal this time is to get down to 210. I have not weighed 210 since 1980 when I was 20 years old! My wife gained back 5 pounds and she wants to loose another 15 pounds. BTW she weighs 135 right now.

I was a non-believer! This is life changing! What do you have to loose except for a huge amount of weight!

HCG is a hormone that a woman produces after becoming pregnant. Will taking the drops have any type of effect on my hormones and monthly cycle? What if I try to conceive after being on the diet? Will it affect anything?

Reply

Susan

The injections could effect it but the drops don’t cause any of these problems. I do know some people’s periods are a little irregular during the diet but that’s because of a change in diet and not from the HCG itself.

Reply

Help!! Susan, I think you can help. I have been so discouraged for the last year due to menopause. During that time I have gained almost 30 lbs. Will this work for someone in menopause? I have joined a gym, watched my calories, etc. and have not been able to lose a thing. Thank you for your help:)

Reply

Susan

Absolutely. Get going and don’t worry about menopause. This diet works for people who say nothing else has worked. If you just do what you need to do and follow the guidelines you will do well.

Hi. I’m interested in starting the HCG diet this week. I’m highly motivated but I’m concerned of what to eat during the maintenance stage. I would like to do it for the 40 day period.. Is it true that I can’t use makeup or lotions that aren’t oil free? Do I need to weigh or measure myself on a daily or weekly basis?

Reply

Susan

Why would you be concerned about the maintenance phase? It’s the easiest phase, eat whatever you like just avoid sugars and starches. It’s easy, especially after doing the low calorie diet. So don’t worry about that or let it stop you. And yes, avoid makeup that is oily and lotions. And yes, weigh yourself daily so you know how you are doing. You need numbers so you can see progress. You’ll be so motivated by those numbers though so don’t worry about it. Ignorance (not knowing your numbers) is NOT bliss.

Reply

sH

Can you wear makeup, lipstick, chapstick etc…. while on this diet? I’ve read to avoid anything with mineral oil in it. Is that crucial?
Does shampoos, deoderants, etc affect this diet too?

Reply

Susan

You are actually allowed to use mineral oil, which is basically baby oil. So you can use that but avoid the other oils out there. Lipstick and chapstick won’t effect you much but a bad makeup will. Get mineral makeup and you’ll be fine.

I need to lose approx 18 lbs and the HCG diet sounds like the perfect solution for me but I understand that you are not allowed to use creams and lotions. I use hormone creams for menopause, my symptoms without the hormones do not make it possible to stop using them, how will this affect my success on this diet?

Reply

Susan

It could slow you down but I know plenty of people who are taking the same stuff and they do great. So just stay on your prescribed medication unless you get permission from a doctor to go off. 90% of the results is better than 0, so don’t worry about not getting 100% of the results if there’s nothing you can do about it. Just do the best you can.

I am on the HCG diet later and have lost 18 pounds just since 1/3/2011! My question: I am on Vivell dot patch for hormone replacement (I had a hysterectomy). I read that I could stop the patches during the 30-40 days I take the HCG without complication. What are your thoughts on this? Thank you for this wonderful website as it is very informative.

Great job Sabrina! And where did you read you could stop it? I would ask your doctor if you plan on stopping anything like that. Always stay on your doctor prescribed medication unless you talk with your doctor about going off of it.

Thanks!

Reply

Susan

Yvette, just get the HCG I recommend, follow their instructions and you will do great. You can do this. And it’s not about calories. You eat the food on the list in the right amounts and you lose weight. The HCG will be taking nutrients from the stored fat you are burning and using that as energy so you won’t feel like you are only eating 500 calories. So don’t focus on that. Just focus on your goal and get started. You can do it.

Well just tailor the diet to suite your needs then. Load with food you naturally eat, then just worry about the low calorie portion.

Hey Susan, Iwas wondering how long it would take to lose about 15 pounds with the hcg drops?

Reply

Susan

Well everyone is a bit different but a standard 26 day round will be more than enough. So just do a round until you hit your goal weight. I know people who hit that in about 10 days but they have more weight to lose than that. But a standard 26 day round should be fine.

im trying the slim fast diet, will i still be able to take the hcg drops?

Reply

Susan

No because what’s in the slim fast will ruin your diet. You don’t need both. If you aren’t losing about 1 pound per day with your slim fast, then do this diet instead. It’s quicker than anything else I’ve ever seen. That’s my opinion but you really should diet with normal food instead of drinks and bars that you won’t be eating for life. This diet teaches you how to eat normal food that will keep you healthy and keep the weight off.

Reply

Patrick

Are you sure 3 weeks is eniugh maintenance before starting another round? i WAN T TO START ROUND TWO BUT THOUGHT THE ORIGIONAL SAID 6 WEEKS OF MAINTENANCE

Reply

Susan

That depends on how long your first round was. If it was 40 days then do 3 weeks of maintenance then 3 weeks of a break, then start again. Some people skip the 3 week break after maintenance and they do just fine. If you did a 26 day round then you are ready to start again after 3 weeks of maintenance.

Does this diet interfere with birth control pills? Also what about liquid foundation and lotion? What is the ingredient that should not be in these products?

Reply

The injections can make you more fertile. The oral product I used does not. But both don’t effect birth control if used properly. So just keep using your birth control as normal.

I was recently diagnosed with under-active thyroid, insulin resistance, and PCOS. (How lovely I inherited all the FAT health problems) I was told that due to the insulin resistance my body stores fat quite efficiently, however, it doesn’t allow efficient burning of stored fat. Will the HCG actually help my body in this case to release the stored fat so it can be used for energy?

Reply

Susan

I’ve seen all those conditions in people on the diet and they do just fine. They might not lose as quickly as others at first but if they stick to it they do great just the same.

Reply

Susan

I can’t really say because I don’t know things like your age, sex (I’m guessing female though), starting weight, etc. Everyone is a little different. Some people lose that in the first week (it’s rare but it happens), while others will need a 26 day round. On average you will need about 2-3 weeks. 10-15 pounds isn’t much to lose but if you do the diet correctly you will lose it.

Hi Susan I have diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol and I take med’s for all three, while doing the diet will it effect me taking my med’s like my blood sugar because I would still have to continue on the med’s right? and I also read in one of your other post’s that you shouldn’t use massage oil’s while on the diet but what about lotion’s that you use on a daily basis? Thanks for the info and the site.

Reply

Susan

I just answered the diabetes and blood pressure question, so look at the other comments. Check with your doc. And the lotions and oils you need to stop during the duration of the diet. It’s just for a couple weeks though and you can go back to using them after. They will cause you to stall so avoid them if you do the diet.

I have been diabetic for 10 years and weigh 350 lbs! I’ve tried it all, lost weight several times but always end up regaining it. Will this diet mean that I will need to adjust the levels of insulin I am taking, and the other meds for blood pressure etc? Is it safe to take while on insulin?

Reply

Susan

Well in your situation you should be talking with your doctor. I’ve seen hundreds of diabetics and people with blood pressure issues go on the diet and they do great. You just have to watch yourself as usual and make any adjustments. If you do the protocol right your doctor will probably reduce the amount of insulin you need and also decrease your blood pressure meds, if not completely take you off them. It’s amazing how much healthier you get after losing the weight. So talk with your doc about the issues you have and ask him if a low calorie diet is OK.

I’ve seen over 25 pounds many times, but most of them either had a ton of weight to lose or were men, or both. Men typically do better and also those with a lot to lose will lose more quickly. Everyone is different. But you’ll still lose very quickly if you have any fat to lose.

Thank you for all the useful information on your site. Can you just do the drops without doing such a restrictive diet at 500 calories? Is it harmful to do the drops with a basic low calorie diet that is modified from the HCG plan? Thank you.

Reply

Susan

No because it’s not about calories. You don’t count calories on this diet and the 500 calories is more of a myth. Don’t worry about calories. You choose food from the list and eat them in the proper amounts by weighing them out. Calories are NOT created equal so counting calories on this diet will not work. The HCG is taking nutrients from the stored fat that is going to be burned as fuel so it’s not like you are starving yourself. You will feel fine and lose weight very quickly. But don’t try to modify it. I’ve seen it a thousand times and you will fail. Just follow the guidelines and you’ll do great.

Hello Susan,
I’m a nurse and I’m always skeptical about diet pills, etc. I am 5’7″ and weigh 250lbs. My weight, like so many others, has been a lifelong problem. I would love to lose at least 50lbs. How much can I expect to lose during the first 40-day cycle? Do people tend to gain it all back and then some? Does energy levels increase while dieting? Is it safe to do without being followed by PMD? Which book do you recommend purchasing? Thank you for your input.
Lori

Reply

Susan

Well a healthy dose of skepticism is good. Make sure to go with a provider that has all the info you need AND a guarantee. I believe the company I used and recommend has a double your money back if you aren’t successful policy. So check with them first and the link is in the article. I also know they have all the info you need so you don’t have to buy any books, which is nice. And everyone is different so it’s hard to tell. If you follow the protocol exactly you’ll probably lose around 30 pounds in a 40 day round. You could lose more or even a little less but that’s about average for women. For men it’s higher than that. And most people I know who have done a good program don’t gain it back as long as they take the lessons they learned from the diet and they also followed the maintenance phase correctly. Just be aware of what you are doing and you’ll be fine.

can you get pregnant while take the hcg drops an if so what are the risks

Reply

If you can get pregnant off the drops then you can get pregnant on the drops. But I think you are asking if it increases your chances? The drops don’t increase your chances of pregnancy but the injections give you such a high dose that it does increase your chances. So that’s another reason why I love the drops more, it’s just as effective but you get a much lower dose of HCG and it won’t increase your chances of becoming pregnant. But of course on your round make sure you are still taking the normal precautions to not become pregnant like properly using birth control.

Hello! I started the hcg diet drops January 1st and lost 22 pounds in 2weeks. Though I have a lot more to lose, it is very exciting!!! My husband and I have been trying to conceive for several years with no luck. My Dr prescribed clomid and she really did not seem concerned about me being this diet. I got home and did some research and found so many different answers! I decided to stop the drops after 2 weeks day before 1st clomid tablet. I really want to coninue with the diet but now I’m really confused about what i can do. It’s now been about 2 weeks since I stopped the drops and not sure if I can just start taking them again or do I need to start over with the 2 day load? Or is even ok to do it all while trying to get pregnant? Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you:)

Reply

Susan

Well it’s not the drops that’s the issue but the low calorie diet. If you are trying to get pregnant then you shouldn’t be on a low calorie diet at the same time. So you either need to lose the weight and then try to get pregnant, or just focus on trying to get pregnant. But doing both at the same time isn’t recommended or productive. It’s been proven the less overweight you are the easier it is to get pregnant, so you can lose the excess weight and then try to get pregnant. That’s what most do. But you don’t want to be on a low calorie diet while trying to get pregnant or while nursing because you won’t have enough calories to go around. So choose the best course of action for you and talk it over with your doctor. And congrats on losing 22 pounds in just 2 weeks. That’s very quick!

Reply

Susan

Your story is very common. If you follow the system it will work but you must do it 100%. The diet is low calorie and that means you don’t have enough for hard physical activity because you’ll be burning too many calories. I’ve seen the company I worked with make custom plans for those who HAVE to work out, like exercise instructors, but for you I would just take a break for 3 weeks and do a 26 day round and just get rid of the weight, then worry about training. Losing the 15 pounds will be way more beneficial than training for those 3 weeks. Put on a 15 pound weight belt and you’ll know what I mean. You have plenty of time if you start now.

I get the HCG injections, Do you know if there are any side effects with the injections? I’ve been on it for the last 3 weeks, and lost already 15 pounds. But on the 3rd week giving myself the injections I started getting a rash, Is this normal?

A rash from the injections is fairly normal I find. Another reason why I like the oral product better and avoid injections. So watch your rash and if it gets worse you may have to stop.

I am a firefighter and i was wondering if i will be more tired on this diet and i want to lose 100 lbs. what is the maintance phase you are talking about?

Reply

Susan

People with a lot of weight to lose like 100 pounds typically report that they have more energy than ever. But if you are running around and doing heavy lifting as a firefighter you might have to add more calories because you might be burning too many. Just ask the people you get your product from and they should be able to help you. Just make sure to go with a good provider.

Very interested in the HGC drops, but I have several food allergies. What if you can’t eat or don’t like the recommended food for this diet? Are there substitutions? Like, I am allergic to nuts.

Reply

Susan

There are no nuts on the diet so no worries there. And there is enough variety that if you are allergic to one thing you can choose another. So I don’t think you’ll have any problems finding food you can have. It’s all regular food like meat, vegetables, fruit, etc. Good luck to you!

Okay, I’m almost 20, and not too much overweight, just curious if it only works if you’re excessively overweight? Like how much overweightshould you be in order to get satisfying results?

Reply

Susan

If you have fat to lose it works. It doesn’t matter how much fat, the system works if you do it right. Just typically most people go on the diet if they have more than 10 pounds to lose, but you will still see good results if you have less to lose. You just hear of the larger loss stories more because it’s more noteworthy, but it works if you have fat to lose.

Susan,

I would like to start this diet but would like a little more information. I am almost 30, female, and currently weigh around 245. I would like to loose at least 75 lbs. Is this at all possible and what would you suggest? The maintenance section is 3 weeks long and we can exercise during this correct? Also, what is the difference in taking a 3 week break after a 40 day cycle than not taking any break with a 26 day cycle? What specific oils are not allowed? I have tried a 500 calorie diet before and become kinda grouchy, will this happen again? Thank you~

Susan

Hi Chanda. Yes, 75 pounds is completely doable on this diet. You will just have to do multiple rounds as 40 is the longest you should be on it. But I’ve seen larger losses than 75 pounds and you can definitely do it. I suggest the longer rounds if you have more than 30 pounds to lose because it’s harder to stop and start so much on the shorter rounds. And yes, exercise on maintenance, build some muscle and that will help burn fat and make it hard for it to ever come back. And after maintenance on the 40 days you should take a 3 week break before starting again, but I see others skip that break and just start again and they do fine. Just ask the people you work with and they will make the right suggestion for you. And everyone gets a little grouchy on any diet, if you can get through the first 6-8 days you will feel a lot better and not be grouchy I find. Good luck!

I am 5’9 and weigh 155 lbs. I’d like to be 135 lbs. Should I do the 26 day or 40 day drop cycle? Also, is it important to eat only organic food? Thank for ur fantastic information.

Susan

For 20 pounds you can do the 26 day round. If you don’t happen to hit your goal you can keep going until you do or until you hit 40 days. But if you do the diet correctly you should hit 20 pounds no problem in the 26 day round. And no, you don’t need organic at all. Most people don’t. It won’t hurt if you do use organic food but it’s not a requirement.

Hi! I’ve been on this plan for a week now and so far I’ve dropped 12 lbs. I’m thrilled! My question is after the 40 days on (I have about 50 more pounds to go), I’m off for my 3 week maintenance period. During this time, how many calories should I have a day (and I know to exercise some each day during this time too) and do I do the 2 “reload” days before starting another round? Thank you! … and for anyone who thinks this plan will not work – TRY IT! I cn truly fight off any cravings I get (which are few and far between) and I’ve lost 12 POUNDS in ONE WEEK! .. on other plans it would take me 6-8 weeks to lose that much! … TRY IT! all you have to lose is WEIGHT!

I am very glad you are doing so well Cathie! You are proof that it works and works fast. You’ll find how you are supposed to eat during maintenance. It’s not about calories but the quality of food you are eating. The place where I did my HCG rounds taught me to stick with one plate per meal with now seconds and no snacking between meals. An easy way to keep portions low while not driving yourself crazy by counting calories. They have a few more tricks but that is a good one to start with. And yes, do your load days at the start of any new round. Keep going and you’ll hit your goal in no time.

I have been taking the drops for 40 days now, and Ihave lost 23lbs. I did cheat some, but I am still happy with the results! Not only the weight loss, but in addition, it improved my mood, and made me feel like a sain person again! I’m on maintence now, and looking forward to the next round, I still have 80lbs to lose, but I’m confident that this will help me get to my goal, when I’ve tried many, many others for years! Thanks to your site for helping answering some questions!

Great job Susan! On your next round if you can cut out any cheats you will lose even better, because a cheat can slow you down for days. So just stay on track and avoid those cheats ; ) But you did very well and you are making great progress. Keep going until you hit your goal! Thanks for commenting.

I been on the HCG drops for 28 days, I started at 337 lbs now I weigh in at 269 lbs. I am very excited about losing this much weight which most of it was water weight when I started, I gained 50 lbs in the last 6 months when I quit smoking. I am still very worried that I will just wake up one day and not loose another pound. My question is during the maintance stage how many calories should I eat? I have cravings but my will power gets stronger each day. I am still in disbelief that I have loss 68 pounds. If you could tell me any daily menus of what to eat during the maintance stage and how long do I stay on maintance until I can start again with my next 40 days.

Susan

Wow! 68 pounds in 28 days?! That is probably the most I’ve ever seen and I’ve seen a lot of great results. Great job! Just stick with the plan and you’ll be fine. Make sure not to go beyond 40 days in a single round. So on maintenance just avoid those sugars and starches. Also keep portion sizes reasonable. The trick I was taught from the folks I got my HCG from was to only use 1 plate and have no seconds and no snacks between meals. It’s an easy way to control portion sizes. So just follow the rules and you’ll do great.

Thank you for so much wonderful information! I just finished my first treatment of HCG drops. I did 26 days and lost 25 pounds. I still need to lose more, but according to the information I read, I need to do 3 weeks of maintenance and then wait 3 more weeks before starting round two of treatment. Then I should do 4 weeks of maintenance and 4 weeks more of waiting before going to round three of treatment. It seems to me all you mention is the three weeks of maintenance and that it doesn’t need to be increased between rounds. That would be good news for me if it is true. What do you recommend based on your research?

Reply

Susan

Only do the extra 3 week break if you did a 40 day round. So since you only did a 26 day round you can start another one after the 3 weeks of maintenance. If you do a 40 day round you do 3 weeks of maintenance, then another 3 week break before your next round. You did great work! Keep it up and you’ll hit your goal in no time!

Can u drink tea sweetened w Splenda during this diet, or can u only have Stevia? Also, can u chew sugar-free gum or eat sf mints? Also, is it safe to do the hcg diet before a surgery? Thank u.

Reply

Susan

You cannot use Splenda on the diet. Just use the liquid stevia, it’s better and it’s allowed on the diet. And avoid sugar-free gum and mints. They will have aspartame in it that can increase cravings and even stimulate weight gain. So just avoid them during the diet. And I’m not sure what surgery you are doing. Just follow the instructions from your doctor about any surgery you are doing.

I have a job that is mentally taxing, will this diet affect my ability to concentrate?
Thanks!

Most people, including myself, found more mental clarity and focus. For some reason most people say they have more energy and focus. I think a large part of it is that you are eating healthy food and you know exactly what you are going to eat, you don’t have to spend time worrying about it and can focus on other tasks like work. That was my experience anyway.
