I know MANY people who have done the HCG diet successfully. And there is something common with all of them once they near the end of the diet…and that is they are scared to death to go off the diet and start maintenance!
It’s scary to go off such a planned diet because now you are expected to make decisions on your own!
But don’t worry, if you’ve been paying attention to what you’ve been eating during the diet then you are in good hands.
During HCG diet maintenance phase you are not allowed to have sugar or starches for 3 weeks. Then after those 3 weeks you take a break for another 3 weeks until you can start the diet again if needed.
You can have just about everything out there that doesn’t have sugar or starch. But I would recommend adding in food slowly as you never know how your body will react.
For example, if you are used to drinking a lot of milk, add milk back in slowly and see how it effects you as far as weight gain. This will allow you to see what has an effect on you and what doesn’t.
Also make sure to weigh yourself every morning just like on the low calorie phase. You need to keep track and see how you are doing. If you are gaining at all then you need to see why and make adjustments. It’s easy to keep the weight off you just need to be aware of the situation.
Another good thing is to start being more active after the diet. The low calorie diet is hard to exercise on but now that you are off it you can easily exercise and start to tone and shape your new slender body.
And lastly you need to be reading those labels when you go shopping at the grocery store. Look at how much fat, sugar, starch, carbs, etc are in a product. You’ll be shocked at what you know now and how you can easily keep the weight off by avoiding a few bad products. Check ALL labels because you’ll be surprised.
And as a bonus tip, check the nutrition facts at every place you eat at. During maintenance I would advise you to not eat out at all but if you must then check their nutrition facts. What I do is just search for the restaurant name in Google. So if I’m going to the Olive Garden, I’ll type “Olive Garden Nutrition Facts” into Google and find all their info. You’ll be shocked at what these restaurants pack into their food. I’ve seen salads that pack in over 2,500 calories in a serving! So be careful and make smart decisions.
Keeping off the weight is really easy and if you add in exercise and good eating you’ll continue to lose the weight on maintenance and beyond. So don’t worry and just be aware of the choices you are making!
